Here is what you need to start creating a companion website:

• Information about the paper: title, authors, URL
• Computer code written in Matlab®, R, or SAS® (more software to come)
• Information about the coders: names, affiliations, emails
• Description of what the code does, what goes in (input) and what goes out (output)
• Some demo data, just to illustrate how the code works

Once you have all the above information, you can start the submission process. As shown in the video, when all information has been provided, you can get a preview of your companion website.

Once you are happy with the way the companion website looks, you validate your submission. If there is more than one coder, an email is sent to all other coders inviting them to review and validate the companion website. At that point, they are welcome to make any suggestions to the primary coder to improve the website. All modifications have to be made by the primary coder in charge of the submission. When all coders have validated the companion website, it is submitted to RunMyCode.

Before the companion website can go online, it must be validated by RunMyCode. There is both (1) a scientific validation conducted by the RunMyCode’s Editorial Board and (2) a technical validation enforced by the RMC Lab.

The Editorial team checks whether the submitted companion website complies with the editorial policy and the academic standards of RunMyCode. The board welcomes submissions of high-quality research in all areas of computational science.

Conditional on being accepted by the Editorial Board, the submitted companion website enters the technical validation stage. The RMC Lab does check four different dimensions of the code:

• Compatibility of the software
• Robustness of the code (test parameter values and constraints)
• Security of the code
• CPU requirements and computing time

Now that it has been certified by RunMyCode, the companion website is ready to go live!
