1. What is RunMyCode?

RunMyCode is an online repository allowing people to share and download computer code and data associated with scientific publications (articles and working papers).

The RunMyCode website is operated by a not-profit making scientific association called the RunMyCode Association. The mission of the Association is to make academic easier to use and easier to replicate. RunMyCode is currently funded by several national research agencies and universities.


2. What are the goals of RunMyCode?

RunMyCode follows three main objectives: The first objective is to allow researchers to quickly disseminate internationally the results of their research, which will considerably increase the potential of citations of scientific papers. 

The second objective is to provide a very large community of users with the ability to use the latest scientific methods. This will speed up the process of converting scientific results into productive forces. 

The third objective is to allow members of the academic community (researchers, editors, referees, etc.) to replicate scientific results and to demonstrate their robustness.


3. What is a companion website?

A companion website is a website allowing people to download the computer code and data associated with a scientific publication (articles and working papers). A companion website consists of three main parts. The upper panel provides information about the publication including title, authors, link to the abstract and paper. The central panel presents the “RunMyCoders”, i.e., the researchers who share their code and data. Note that they may or may not be the authors of the publication. The lower panel includes a presentation of the files available for download, as well as some statistics about the companion website.


4. Is there any transfer of copyright from the researchers to the website or any other third party?

RunMyCode does not take a copyright for any computer code or data (or any other document) researchers post on the RunMyCode website.


5. How can I create my own companion website?

The making of a new companion website follows a simple submission process. The researcher needs to provide information about (1) the scientific paper, (2) the researchers, and (3) the files submitted. It should not take more than 5-10 minutes to create a new companion website. 


6. Which software is compatible with RunMyCode?

You can use ANY software or data format.


7. How much does it cost to create a companion website?

It is free of charge.


8. How long does it take to create a companion website?

It should not take more than 5-10 minutes.


9. How can I create a RunMyCode account?

The creation of a RunMyCode account is simple and free of charge. Just click on the register link on the top right corner of the webpage. Fill in the form with your first name, last name, and a valid email address. 

Once you have logged in, you can create and manage your own companion websites to promote your research.


10. Do I need to register to download a file from RunMyCode?

No you don’t have to.


11. Do I need to register to create a new companion website on RunMyCode?

Yes, you do.


12. What are the research areas covered by RunMyCode?

We welcome contributions in ALL research areas.


13. How can I find a companion website on a given topic?

You can type one or several keywords in the search engine, type the name of a journal, or sort the companion website by software, date or popularity. When you are on a given companion website, we suggest similar companion websites you may like too.
